Embracing Liberation: Middleton-Cooke Farms' Vision for Healing and Restoring Culture
I didn’t want those of you who already follow my blog, to miss out on our new welcome letter that every new subscriber will automatically receive once we get their email, but before that…
I wanted to announce our acceptance into:
Meta’s fundraising tool platform - babeeeee this was not an easy feat but we did it and we’d really appreciate your support by either donating or adding the campaign to your Facebook or Instagram profiles.
The PayPal Giving Fund as a recognized charity.
Both of these come with a ton opportunities to give and/or share our campaign.
Now on to…
The Welcome Letter
I hope this letter finds you in great spirits. Welcome to Middleton-Cooke Farms (MCF), a 501C3 non-profit charitable organization dedicated to preserving culture and reclaiming ancestral lands. Here in Charleston, South Carolina, the historic home of the Gullah-Geechee people, rapid development threatens our cherished heritage, deeply informing our vision at Middleton-Cooke Farms as we return to one of our ancestral homes here in the United States of America.
A lot of people have been asking, "Well, what is MCF? You want to do retreats, right?" Nooooooo Y’all! It’s something much greater than that (cuz as one of my advisors told me “we ain’t retreating from no where”). MCF is something so great that it is hard to put into actual words.
I guess the easiest way for me to explain MCF is probably through the vision of our first planned in-person program; The Liberation Party. Sounds radical right? That’s because it is. The Liberation Party 2025 is a 4-5 day gathering of small cohorts of Black and Indigenous women and femmes (Liberation Party members) here in Charleston SC where we will:
Move energy together
Explore land and culture together
Rest together and thereby
Liberate souls together
Our vision is to create spaces that support the nurturing and rest of Black and Indigenous women through land reclamation, healing, and rejuvenation. It's a much-needed haven in our community, and I'm truly excited to share this with you.
In a nutshell…It’s about getting free.
And speaking of FREE…the objective…and hold on to your hearts for this one…is to not charge our party members for this. I know right? To me, this is the most radical piece. Just typing this intention makes me want to cry because it seems impossible but I know it’s not. My ancestor guides told me so and I believe them.
This is where you, the community comes in…
At this moment, we are seeking support to further our mission and bring this vision to life. Your generous contribution will directly contribute to this ambitious vision; to sponsor a liberation party member.
Your involvement in our project would truly mean the world to me and to the community we aim to serve. I want to thank you for considering Middleton-Cooke Farms as a cause worthy of your support. Your generosity will make a meaningful impact on the lives of Black and Indigenous women, and the community as a whole.
Peace,
Kat
